AP English Language and AP English Literature Coaching
AP English Language and AP English Literature Coaching
As a high school English teacher with a decade of classroom experience, I offer private coaching for students preparing for the AP Language and Composition and AP Literature and Composition exams. For the past five years, my students have achieved a 100% pass rate in AP Literature and a 92–98% pass rate in AP Language and Composition. Whether your student needs targeted help with a specific skill or comprehensive support throughout the year, I tailor each session to their individual needs and goals.
AP Language and Composition
The AP Lang exam rewards students who can read rhetorically and write with precision and persuasion. I help students master close reading of nonfiction texts, identify and analyze rhetorical strategies, and develop confident, well-structured arguments. We work through all three essay types—synthesis, rhetorical analysis, and argument—with attention to both content and style.
AP Literature and Composition
The AP Lit exam asks students to think and write like literary critics. I help students develop the close reading skills and analytical vocabulary needed to tackle unfamiliar prose and poetry with confidence. We work through essay structure, literary terminology, and timed writing practice, with attention to the kinds of texts and prompts that appear most frequently on the exam.
What to Expect
Sessions are available in-person for students in the Raleigh–Durham–Chapel Hill area and virtually for students outside the area. Coaching can begin at any point in the year, whether your student is just starting the course, preparing for the May exam, or looking to strengthen specific skills over the summer.
I pride myself on transparent pricing and expectations. While my instruction varies depending on the student and their goals, I follow the schedule of objectives below. My flat rate pricing of $850 includes: four in-person or virtual meetings and feedback on practice essays. The first three sessions each cover one of the corresponding essay types and the final session covers the multiple choice section.
